Don't Ask, Don't Tell

"DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL" offers a fictional narrative based on the real experiences of U.S. military personnel affected by the now-defunct policy, told through the story of a distinguished Army Ranger's expulsion. Developed over a decade as a film project with insights from the Service Members Legal Defense Network (SLDN), this screenplay by Lance Dow, under Jerry Offsay’s leadership, received attention from top talent and media, including the Los Angeles Times. Now, this compelling tale is transitioning to the stage, bringing its critical message to new audiences.

About the Author: Lance Dow
Lance Dow is a writer and producer for film and television and co-author of the vampire novel, Soulstice: Luna's Dream and the spiritual novella, The Butterfly Room. As an action, horror and sci-fi screenwriter, Don't Ask, Don't Tell was the only film project Mr. Dow was compelled to write for his personal convictions as a citizen of the United States of America to help what he perceived was both a moral wrong and an unconstitutional policy contrary to the founding principles of the U.S. Constitution.
DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL is a fictionalized account of the experiences of numerous members of the U.S. Armed Services under the now repealed DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL POLICY of the U.S. Government. The story is told through the expulsion of a career Army Ranger and Medal of Honor recipient. It is in screenplay format as the story was a decade-long film project developed with technical assistance and access to service members from the Service Members Legal Defense Network (SLDN), who also led the court fights and lobbying efforts with Congress that led to overturning the policy, and who also defended expelled service members under the policy for many years.

The film project written by writer & producer, Lance Dow was lead by former Showtime head, Jerry Offsay and was read by a Who's Who of box office talent and was the subject of news articles by the Los Angeles Times and The Advocate Magazine.

The former film project is now being re-imagined for the stage.
