About the Author: Ladislav Sedlak
Ladislav Kornel Sedlak, born in Slovakia September 16 1942. Considerd to be the son of an "enemy of the people", in 1959 I received a letter stating I am not eligible to study at any institution of higher education. However good connections of my father helped me to get an Associate degree in structural engineering. After the invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Union in 1968 I decided to immigrate to USA and in 1969 I left the country. At Portland Comm. College in Oregon I received an Associate degree in civil engineering and worked a few years as a technician. Than I started gold mining and worked just winters as a truck driver.

Here in the American West I find the basic ingredients for happy life. The space, beauty and the thrill.
The text of this book does not fit any category. It's like listening to a storyteller around the campfire rather reading the book. The author does not use any common literary devices as gradation, dramatization or emotionalism. In spite of that, his book made such a strong impact on me that I still remember clearly every story.
