About the Author: Danton O'Day
Danton (Dan) O'Day is a university professor emeritus, author and musician. He has taught introductory and advanced undergraduate courses at four different universities. While working on his Master's degree he taught at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He also taught at two universities in the United States while working on his Ph.D. degree: One year at the University of Delaware and the other at Lincoln University, the first African American university in the USA. After graduating from the University of Delaware, he was hired as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto's Erindale College in Mississauga, Ontario—now known as U of T Mississauga. Over the years of teaching and doing research on teaching, Professor O'Day has learned the things that help students succeed. Having written a couple of books and over a dozen booklets on studying and learning, he has now, in collaboration with Aldona Budniak, compiled this information into a single resource. "How to Succeed at University" provides that information in easy-to-digest packets that are designed to help university students succeed. It is available as a Canadian and an International Version.

Dan has been playing the guitar and writing music since he was a teenager. He currently has two children's music CDs. "Monkeys Don't Wear Shoes, or Cowboy Boots" by Myra, Mike and Dan is his first music CD. He then put together "Frog in My Hat as a solo effort. Songs from both of these music CDs are available as music animations on YouTube at the "DantonCanada" channel. To date there are over a dozen music animations for kids and their families to enjoy. Dan has recently made images from five of these animations into a book "Song Stories I". Children can read along or sing along to his music. Dan's first solo pop CD is called "Life's a Cliché". All of his songs can be listened to and ordered at www.DantonMusic.com.

On a personal note, I can say that I am driven by the excitement of the world. Every day opens up new vistas and opportunities.
In this book, early human development is covered from the formation of eggs and sperm through fertilization. It then progresses to the events that lead to the formation of tissues and organs in the embryo and fetus. The book is designed to give the reader an in-depth understanding of how development progresses by focusing on the central issues involved in the differentiation and morphogenesis of cells, tissues and organs. In addition to the fundamental topics of developmental biology, current issues such as artificial reproductive technologies are discussed. Developmental problems are also covered including Down syndrome, immotile cilia syndrome, spina bifida, fetal alcohol syndrome and the effects of thalidomide, to name a few.
This book is written in an easy to read style with lots of relevant examples and over 150 original full color figures. It is designed to meet the needs of students world-wide who want an accurate, informative and inexpensive book on human developmental biology. The book is suitable for use as a course textbook or as supplementary reading to help students understand how humans develop. Anyone who has taken a biology course will also find this book an enjoyable read, allowing them to update their understanding of current biomedical issues that make the news.
