Jere and Jim Brittain are sixth-generation natives of Mills River, North Carolina. Jere is professor emeritus of horticulture, Clemson University and Jim was professor emeritus of History, Georgia Tech.
Both retired to the Mills River area in the late 1990's. Journeying On
is a collection of essays, songs and poems they wrote for local publications: Jere for the Hendersonville Lightning and Jim for the Town of Mills River News Letter. The book concludes with a short memoir by their mother, Velma Gillespie Brittain.
