Once Upon a Coin: Travelogues of Coin

After completing her graduation in Journalism from Delhi University, Aditi had had a brief experience in print and electronic media. The world of media brought her to lives of people from different layers of this society. She felt that, they have their own stories to communicate with the world. It is everybody, who is a story-teller. Only they lack the power of articulation or the right potential to channelize their passion. The assignments introduced her with the rather unspoken world. There is not only the human world filled with stories, but the non-human world, or even the vast inanimate world has some feelings to share. It is actually the human feelings, that we are prone to measure our world with. And our very own world consists of a bunch of inanimate things; our home, the furniture, books, paintings, a stream nearby or a distant mountain. We can unveil our reflection on the things we are fond of. In her new novel, Once Upon A Coin, Aditi ponders upon a coin, merely a piece metal endowed with some financial value by human beings. It comes to the market with the print of its date of release, the emblem of the nation it is valid within and its value -- evaluated by the Government. For a pretty good period it is exchanged in the market from one hand to other till it becomes emaciated and out of use. The Government takes it back and issue a different coin of its value, or more of that of it. The very piece of metal, which has so long been come to be known as a coin with economic value, is melted for other purpose. Aditi takes this coin as the protagonist of her novel and endows it with humane feeling. It is born someday and somewhere with many of its like. When it was brought to the outer world, it was appreciated with many a warm touch of people. It was considered to be a prized possession to them, especially the children.
