About the Author: Charlotte Cushman
Charlotte Cushman holds a B.A. from Bowdoin College and an M.Ed. in Special Education from Lesley University. After working at Perkins school for the Blind for ten years, Ms. Cushman was a special education teacher in Malawi with the Peace Corps. Following that, she worked as an education consultant in Maine for the New England Center Deafblind Project and Catholic Charities of Maine. Currently, Charlotte is a project manager within the eLearning department at Perkins and is involved in developing online resources for professional development and archives.
This book is intended to be used as a resource for a range of professionals, parents and other caregivers who are working with children with visual and multiple disabilities. Chapter One provides an overview of teaching strategies for this population and guidelines to be used in ensuring that the instruction is successful.
