The Adventures of Jimmy the Lighthouse Boy: Book One: Episode One: Shipwreck Shoals, Episode Two: Scary Times at Skull Island

John Bauer, Ed.D, has spent a career in education, first as a high school English teacher, specializing in both language and literature, and most recently as a professor in the College of Education, University of Memphis. He has thirteen academic publications.

He began his teaching career as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer for two years in West Africa, after which he was drafted into the Army and served a combat tour of duty in Vietnam as a platoon leader. This experience formed the basis for his novel, West of Pleiku, an action war story as seen through the eyes of five soldiers fighting along the Ho Chi Minh Trail in the Central Highlands. In addition to his novel, his VFW Magazine article Ambush in the Plei Trap Valley was published in a VFW volume called Brutal Battles of Vietnam.

Bauer's love of children's adventure stories began at an early age with subscriptions to Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck comic books, the same books, as it turned out, that influenced the movies of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. When his two young sons were growing up, Bauer would make up bed-time stories to tell them every night. The one they liked best was the one called Jimmy the Lighthouse Boy.
