The Ecology of Photography

Barbara bought her first camera, a pre-owned Leica, in 1976. She shot black and white film, and often developed/printed her own photographs. The advent of computer graphics created a new, innovative technique she uses to enhance already experimental and evocative images.

Her first one-woman art show was at the Greenwich Art Society’s E.C.Potter Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1994. At the same time, she was inducted into The National League of American Pen Women. Today her art and photography hang in various private homes and galleries in Tri-State New York, Florida and Arizona. She is best known for “The Lipstick Mountains Memoirs," which she continues to pen (B.K.Smith), and “Baby Boomer Men Looking for Love."

Ms. Kennedy is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York City; The New School for Social research in New York City; New York Medical College, Westchester County, New York; and Arizona State University. She resides in New York City and Scottsdale, Arizona, and is acting Director of Prevention Through Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring learning of at-risk people of all ages and cultures.
