Born August 7th, 1949 in Wisconsin. He grew up in Michigan and Indiana, attending Elkhart High School, in Indiana, before joining the Army (1966-69); Vietnam Vet. Maryland University overseas civilian 1976-1979.

Worked construction and began writing in 1980's. First published in 1989 Nov/Dec Issue of Righting Words-Literary Article on Palindromes, Golden Poet Award 1991, Children's Picture Book, ISBN 1-56883-009-2 Colonial Press 1993 and "The First Helping", Children's Picture Book, 2012. Frist book in the "Learning to Help Series" Robert J. Rutkowski Publishing.

Richard is a Father, Grandfather and lives with his wife/Illustrator, in the Seattle, Washington area.

The "The First Helping" as well as all the Picture Books in the series, explores exciting ways of helping others, while the story lines remain positive and fulfilling. Creative artwork and bold colors lend visual motion to each story as it reaches a helpful, happy conclusion.

The main characters in "The First Helping" are Owl and Zak the snake. Both characters represent the true traits found among their species. They use these abilities to help one another solve very real problems and share with the reader different aspects of helping each other.
