The Ideal Prophet

Born in India, Khwaja Kamal-ud-Din (1870-1932), a well known lawyer and a founding member of the Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat Islam Lahore, was a pioneer Muslim missionary to the West who established the famous Woking Muslim Mission at the Woking Mosque in England. Khawaja Kamal-ud-din joined the Ahmadiyya movement while a student in college. He was one of its most prominent members and a close associate of the Founder, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and was one of the members appointed to the committee formed by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam to run the affairs of the movement on democratic grounds. In 1913 when Maulana Nuruddin headed the movement, Khawaja Kamaludin established the Woking Muslim Mission which for more than fifty years projected the correct picture of Islam in the West and in the world and published the famous, magazine, The Islamic review . This Mission gained a large number of British and other converts, the most famous of which was Lord Headley (d. 1935).

In 1914,He, together with Maulana Muhammad Ali and other senior members of the organization, left Quadian and founded the Ahmadiyya Anjuman Ishaat Islam Lahore, after Mirza Mahmood Ahmad, the son of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who suceeded Maulana Nurudin began claiming that his father was a prophet.

Besides his work in England, the Khwaja also toured other countries in Europe, Africa and Asia during the 1920's to present the message of Islam. His public lectures were highly renowned. He also authored several books on Islam, Christianity and comparative religion, many of which are now being re-printed by the Ahmadiyya Anjuman Isha'at Islam Lahore Inc., U.S.A.
