About the Author: Oleta May Nichols
Oleta May Lockett Nichols was born in 1922 in the ozarks of Missouri. She married at age twenty and raised a family of four, and still managed to write with a prolific hand. She passed away in 2015, and this book was among her richest legacy.Special acknowlegment and appreciation is due Sharon Warner, the author's daughter. Realizing her mother's dream to see this book in print, Sharon's caring diligence has ensured that Oleta's voice lives on for future generations.
When the Little Wings Are Stronger is the coming of age story of a young girl from the southern Ozarks in Missouri during the period before and at the beginning of the United States involvement in World War II.

Raised in post-depression times in a poor but loving Christian family with strong ethical beliefs that were inparted to the entire family, Shandol must learn to identify her own desires for her future­-and choose wisely, at the risk of marrying the wrong man, or worse still, the disapproval of her family.
